Questions people often ask
Does ear wax removal hurt?
It shouldn’t. Most people find microsuction comfortable. You’ll hear the suction, which can sound loud for a moment, and some people feel a little cool or light-headed afterwards. Carol stops whenever you need a break.
Do I need to use drops before my appointment?
It helps a lot. Softening drops for a few days beforehand let the wax come away more easily. The booking section says what to use. If you have a perforated eardrum, or have been told not to use drops, don’t use them, and mention it when you book.
Is ear wax removal right for everyone?
Not always. Tell Carol when you book if you’ve had ear surgery, a perforated eardrum, or an ear infection, or if you have ear pain, discharge or sudden hearing loss. You may need to see your GP first.
Can I book for a relative?
Yes. Book in the usual way and add their name in the form. Carol can visit them at home or in their care home.
Do you visit care homes?
Yes. Carol can see several residents in one visit and work around the home’s routine. Care home managers can send a message to arrange a visit or regular visits.
How long does a visit take?
Most home visits take up to 45 minutes, including a check of both ears and aftercare advice.
